I’m excited about the softball classes we are kicking off on Monday, September 9th! I am also happy to announce the softball coaching staff and teams for the 2019-20 season. Information about all things softball is included below for your quick reference.

Lil’ Lady Titans

Day: Mondays

Description: Basic fundamentals, love for the game, and softball knowledge are some of the highlights that your daughter will get out of our Lilí Lady Titans softball class. Whether you are interested in travel ball in the future or just want to get ready for the upcoming little league season this will be a great program to get you started.

Lisa Smith is a dynamic coach, teaching the fundamentals of softball to our youngest athletes and getting girls ready for their fall and spring seasons.

Becoming a Power Softball Hitter

Description: Want to have a spot in the lineup? Hit! In this power hitting class we will cover the basic fundamentals of hitting including: explosiveness with the hips and hands, bat path, swing execution, and mental game. The goal of this hitting class is to create a consistent swing, develop strength, explosiveness and aggressiveness towards every pitch, and (most importantly) instill confidence in each hitter.

Tabby Dabney is a record-holding power hitter who will be making our hitters stronger and getting them to get the most out of each swing of the bat.

D1 Softball Catching Academy

Description: A 4-week class designed to help softball catchers improve footwork, blocking, efficient throws, & pop-times.

One of our top baseball coaches, Peyton Fulton, will be transferring his skills to our sport to work with our catchers. All of our catchers can benefit from decreasing their pop times and increasing their arm strength, blocking skills, and framing skills.

Advanced Softball Pitching Classes

Finally, I realize that many pitchers have their own pitching coaches, both inside and outside of our facility. I wanted to offer advanced softball pitching classes that would complement any pitching style by emphasizing spin velocity and developing the leg drive required to take their pitching to the next level.

Super Fastpitch Spin Class

Description: No, this isn’t a spin-cycle class, this is an hour of intensive softball spin work. Each week we will choose a different pitch and work on grip options and a variety of drills to increase your max movement on each pitch. This should supplement, not replace, whatever pitching instruction you are already receiving and should not be used to learn how to pitch.

Drive It! Leg Drive Training for Advanced Pitchers

Description: We all know that, as females, 70% of our strength comes from below our waist. Learn to increase the strength in your legs and hips, along with agility, to throw harder and get pitches to move later without detection. This month-long series is like bootcamp for pitching strength. This should supplement, not replace, whatever pitching instruction you are already receiving and should not be used to learn how to pitch.

2019-20 Softball Coaches

Jamie Bohn

Jamie is in his first year as head coach of the 8U Lady Titans. He began coaching travel team softball in 2007 and we are excited to have him on our team! In addition, our 8U Lady Titans will also play in several tournaments this season. We are excited to be one of the few organizations to offer tournament play at that age level.

In addition to being the Director of Softball, Michele will be the head coach for the introductory season of the 16U Mid-Atlantic Orioles softball team. Michele is available for private pitching and hitting lessons. She also leads our advanced pitching classes.
