Why Is The 2019 High School Prospect Camp Important?
Tuckahoe Sports and the Mid-Atlantic Orioles Baseball Program are hosting their annual High School Baseball Prospect Camp. This exciting opportunity will feature Division III college coaches and give you the opportunity to showcase your individual skills. Below, Reggie Keen (our Director of Baseball), details the who, what, why, and how’s of a prospect camp.
Who:
Exposure or Showcase camps are designed for High School players grades 9-12 who have a strong desire to play college baseball.
What:
These prospect camps are designed for baseball players who have a strong desire to play college baseball to showcase their individual skills.
Why:
Exposure Camps are a great tool for players to utilize in their recruiting process. In addition, these camps allow you to perform in front of multiple coaches from numerous colleges or universities. This is beneficial for athletes because it provides more opportunities to be seen by numerous coaches at one time.
Also, you will be at one location instead of attending individual camps over a long period of time. College coaches reap the benefits by providing them an opportunity to see a large selection of prospects at one time and at one location. Hence, decreasing travels significantly to recruit individual players.
How:
Get yourself evaluated at these specialty camps! Coaches will be looking for the five baseball tools: speed, power, hitting for average, fielding, and arm strength. Participate in drills and performance tests in order for coaches to collect data to better qualify if a player is suitable to play college baseball.
Tests include:
- 60 yard dash
- Showcase outfield w/ throws
- Showcase infield w/ throws
- Pro-style pitchers bullpens
- Catcherās pop times
- Showcase batting practice
- Hitterās exit velocity
