The Tuckahoe Sports baseball program has just passed the midway point of their 2nd year running age-specific positional specialty groups during November and December.
As the Titans and Orioles teams have completed their grueling spring, summer and fall seasons, our baseball program is focused on achieving the peak development and growth of each athlete. During this period, we step away from traditional team practices during the week and focus primarily on individual positional breakdowns of catching, infield, and outfield.
Our student-athletes are able to attend any of the sessions.Ā Ā These specialty groups allow youth athletes to taper off from consistently putting stress on their arms along with allowing their bodies to recover.
Positional specialty groups were initially developed to work on our athletes’ individual skills such as agility and footwork, hand-eye coordination, communication, and positional form. During the offseason, it is extremely important to focus primarily on the number of quality repetitions each athlete is receiving.
During these sessions, each athlete receives a significantly increased rate of reps in their position. Ā Ā While team practices are still essential, specialty groups also allow these athletes to work with TSI coaches with different approaches.Ā Ā Three to five members of TSIās high-level coaching staff attend each session.
Specialty groups allow our athletes to become exposed to different coaching styles and ideas from each coach. Coaches are also provided an opportunity to gauge the talent pool developing in the organization.
We are all extremely excited to get back to tournament season once again! Growth, development, and progression for well-rounded athletes and teams happen extensively in the offseason!
