On Monday January 29th 2024, Jason Burton from Prep Baseball Report Virginia /DC spoke with the players and families of the Mid Atlantic Orioles about recruiting and showcases.
Burton who was a former HS coach, has been with PBR the past 5 years and recently was named the Scouting Director for VA. During his talk, he emphasized the importance of player development and why that is so critical with all of the new recruiting rules.
He also reviewed how PBR operates the futures games and why it is such a popular event with college coaches. The Orioles have had two players in the last two years selected to play in this prestigious event- 2025 Oriole Jett Bristow (University of Virginia) and 2024 Oriole Zach Boyd ( William and Mary).
In addition to running tournaments and showcases, PBR also operates scout days for individual organizations, like the Orioles, who have partnered with PBR the last 4 years.
