Tuckahoe Sports (TSI) has always been a champion of giving back, and this commitment was recognized at the Hanover Serves Annual Gala on November 2, 2024, where TSI was honored with the 2024 Outstanding Supported Employment Community Employer Award.
This recognition celebrates TSI’s dedication to supporting individuals with disabilities through employment opportunities, providing a meaningful and inclusive work environment. The connection between TSI and Hanover Serves began in March 2023 when TSI reached out to explore ways to partner with the organization. As a result of this collaboration, TSI welcomed Hunter Dixon to their team. Since then, Hunter has become an invaluable part of the TSI family, working Monday to Wednesday during the day and bringing his trademark smile and infectious laugh to the facility.
According to Cati Howard of Hanover Serves, “It has truly been a privilege and pleasure to witness the dedication that TSI has when working with individuals who have disabilities. Lesa Williams, Executive Director of TSI, took it upon herself to contact Amy Thomas and Angie Nelson to look into employment partnerships with Hanover County Supported Employment. At the time, we had the perfect individual who was ready to apply. I am proud to say that this individual is approaching two years of employment with TSI and absolutely loves his job, his coworkers, and his supervisors.”
TSI’s mission to create inclusive employment opportunities and foster a supportive environment for both their staff and the community is reflected in every aspect of their work. The award further underscores their ongoing commitment to making a difference.
