On 11/6 and 11/7 three players from our Mid Atlantic Orioles Showcase program (23’ Dylan Hudson (Godwin), 23’ Michael Lewis (Steward) and 24’ Zach Boyd (Godwin)) were in attendance at Prep Baseball Report’s 2021 Virginia/DC State Games.
PBR’s Virginia/DC’s State Games are one of the premiere showcase events of the fall, where the top 200 players in the state per graduating class are eligible and get an invite to attend. While other Orioles were unable to attend the event on that weekend, these three really stepped up their game and had an incredible showing down in Norfolk, VA.
23’ Dylan Hudson (Godwin HS) got things rolling with a shot down the left-field line for a single, showing his ability to really use all parts of the field. Dylan also was listed as one of the most projectable hitters from this event along with best hitting tools.
23’ Michael Lewis (Steward HS) was not only showing well at the plate driving a double into the gap during his game, but also on the mound in representation for the Orioles. Michael set his current personal best on the mound touching 86 mph with his fastball, while also placing in the top five for the event in two other categories (Exit Velo and Infield Velo). Michael was also able to rake in superlatives from this event such as Best Fastball, Best Hit Tool, and Most Projectable Athlete.
24’ Zach Boyd (Godwin HS) was also setting new personal best’s hitting 86 mph on the radar with his fastball off the mound. His ability to mix up his pitches along with attacking hitters in the strike zone led to incredible performance for him on the mound. Watch for this Sophomore to continue to make big strides this offseason for the Mid Atlantic Orioles before he enters his high school season at Godwin and into the summer for the 2024 Mid Atlantic Orioles.
Congratulations to these players and showing that all of their hard work and training year-round does pay off!
