Experience
Derek Faucher is in his third season as an assistant coach with the UMW baseball team. Derek joins the Mary Washington Eagles coaching staff after coaching his alma mater, The City College of New York, for nine seasons.
At The City College of New York, Derek held the role of the Assistant Director of Athletics/Athletic Facilities Coordinator/Associate Head Baseball Coach. In nine seasons he helped lead the team to four straight playoff appearances from 2015 to 2018. The 2015 season marked the 2nd highest win total in school history and first playoff win since 2007. While at CCNY he coached 33 All-Conference Players, 1 Conference Player of the Year, 2 Rookies of the Year, 4 ABCA All-Region Players, 1 D3basell All-Region, 1 ECAC Honorable mention, and 1 CoSIDA Academic All-District. Leading the offense at CCNY, several of his teams have been top base stealing threats in the country.
In 2012, Faucher was the head coach of the Stockholm Baseball Club in the Elite Series in Sweden. He guided the team to a 16-8 record in the regular season and a 17-10 record overall. The 2012 team led the league in RBIs, on-base percentage, hits and runs while also swiping a league-high 91 stolen bases on 108 attempts. The pitching proved to be strong as well, posting the league’s second lowest earned run average while the defense led in fielding percentage.
Faucher, a former catcher, started his career at Penn State Beaver. He helped the team to a 34-16 record. He would then move on to Jamestown Community College and helped the team tie the school record for wins. He finished his career at The City College of New York where he earned City University of New York Athletic Conference postseason honors in 2009 after leading the Beavers in batting average and on-base percentage. His senior season he led the club in home runs and walks.
