Tuckahoe Sports is committed to staying at the forefront of player development and Rapsodo Technology continues to help us build the next generation of Mid-Atlantic Orioles!
Mid-Atlantic Orioles players have the benefit of two Rapsodo evaluations each season. Not only does this introduce our younger players to key metrics they will see for the rest of their baseball career, but it identifies what they do well, and what they need to work on as they become a complete batter.
This first evaluation takes place in the Fall and provides coaches and players with their current metrics compared to the national average within their age group, also giving them key skills to work on throughout the season and into the winter off season.
TSI coaches receive the information for each player and emphasize that a good swing can come in many shapes and sizes, highlighting that great hitters find a way to put the ball in play.
Whether itâs a home run or a well-placed infield single, every player has the opportunity to contribute at the plate and make their team successful!
Rapsodo gives us key metrics that our coaches use to not only train our players but also track their progression from season to season and year to year. The metrics that are most important when judging a playerâs ability at the plate are:
- Exit Velocity: Ability to transfer power
- Launch Angle: Point of contact on the bat
- Exit Direction: Where the ball goes on the field
- Distance: How far the ball goes
As we head into the winter off-season, our coaches will meet with each player and provide an evaluation with a focus on improving over the winter. Each playerâs Rapsodo evaluation will be discussed along with the important steps needed to improve their game.
The Rapsodo Pro 2.0 will then be brought back out in April and May for our Spring evaluation, allowing our coaches to see how their playersâ metrics have progressed and developed.
