Support TSI / Tuckahoe Sports Foundation
Since 2009, meeting the mission set by founders has been a primary goal of our organization:
“To provide a family friendly, safe and affordable environment where all girls & boys are provided the opportunity to build their self-esteem and character, while learning the fundamentals and enjoying the games of softball & baseball at a well maintained 1st class training center”
To date, capital campaigns have yielded $1,150,000., used to underwrite the construction of a 40,000 sf. facility known as TSI, Douglas Barbin Moelchert Training Center. Funding also supported the construction of a one of a kind “Challenger Field” located within Tuckahoe Park offering disadvantaged youth a place to participate safely in the sport of baseball & softball.
We understand that this facility offers us an advantage, sets us apart and empowers us to give back. Our commitment continues with all levels of skill developmental and educational clinics provided for both youth and coaches throughout the year. TSI staff works hand in hand providing clinics to wide group of regional nonprofits. TSI programming supports Tuckahoe Little League, Henrico Police Athletic League, Henrico Recreation & Parks, Metropolitan Junior Baseball League, Richmond Public Schools among other beneficiaries.
We will continue to focus on our mission and expand our reach to include those youth that at times are left on the sidelines. Exposure to sports activities improves their health, self esteem and teamworking skills. Sports have also proven to improve scholastic outcomes and offer an opportunity for continued growth and confidence.
We want every child that wants to participate to have that chance!
Financial gifts allow TSI to expand programming, to increase awareness of the sport, to educate those volunteering to coach, support need based grants for underprivileged youth and provide a platform for continued good work in our community.
In 2024, our mission will expand as Tuckahoe Sports will take over the reins for the Annual Challenger Day supporting special needs students in Henrico County. The day celebrates over 300 students and showcases and invites them to to be involved in sport thru Challenger Division of baseball and softball. We are excited and proud to take on this new event and are focused on providing an exceptional experience for each child that attends.
Funding is also key to supporting the maintenance and upkeep of our venue. In house teams provide the platform which support our year round staff and operations. Currently Tuckahoe Sports Foundation provides the funding for ongoing maintenance and improvements. In the past two years, the Foundation has reinvested over $340,000 in the facility with improvements such as new LED lighting, replacing batting cages and nets, adding a new strength and conditioning area, upgrading our security and IT network. Our next large project involves replacing the turf that supports over 50,000 athletes annually year round. We continue to set the bar among regional facilities serving the baseball/softball communities.
Your donations allow us to continue to make these upgrades that are vital to maintain our State of the Art Training Center. They also allow us to expand programming and offerings to a wider audience that will have the opportunity to share the sports of baseball/softball, thus continuing the legacy of our mission. Take part in our efforts to provide for the next generation of kids to learn to love “America’s Pastime“!
